The idea of “marrying” these two masterpieces came to life accidentally at a sound check. The Russian part is a sung poem about aging & nostalgia arranged by the Soviet clandestine classic Arkady Severny and the band “Khimik”. Psoy: “I dedicate Gody Mchatsya to Dmitry Syrovatsky, who loves this song and has encouraged me to sing it”. The Hebrew part is a famous hit about love and separation by Boaz Sharabi and Shimrit Or. The intro refers to the original intro to “Gody Mchsatsya (Years Are Running)” as performed and recorded by Arkady Severny in 1979 , except for personal names mentioned, which are here substituted with the names of this project’s participants.

Мне, как всегда неожиданно подложили новый текст. Я посмотрел, послушал ребят, смотрю – что такое, знакомая мелодия. Я посмотрел – Господи, Боже мой, а песня то о нас. О Грише Лейзерсоне, об Авихае, об Асафе, Эяле, Равиде, Ионатане, в какой-то части о Вите, и о Наташе Беленькой, и я решил её спеть. (I was, as usual, unexpectedly given a new text. I checked it out, listened to the guys, and then noticed something: the melody was familiar. I looked at it and saw that my God, the song was about us. About Grisha Leyzerson, about Avichai, about Assaf, Eyal, Ravid, Jonatan, in some ways about Vitya and about Natasha Belenkaya, and I decided to sing it.).
